We can also print a personalized message to the recipient from you in the card.
The certificate included with the Pet Memorial Tree Gift can be displayed as a reminder both of your gift and the departed pet. The certificate includes our tree logo on one side and a message about the gift, the pet's name and the date on the other. For a small additional fee, we can place the certificate in a black recycled wood frame before shipping.

Where are the pet loss memorial trees planted? Can I choose the location?
Our trees are planted in National Forests damaged by wildfires, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. When you choose one of our pet loss presents, you’re helping restore these precious lands in memory of a beloved pet. Currently, all trees are planted in Sequoia National Forest. We can’t offer location choices because each tree is planted where it can do the most good—making your loss of pet gift both meaningful and impactful.
How can I track the pet loss gift trees?
You (or your gift recipient) can use our “Find Trees” tool in the top menu bar to search by pet name or order date. This allows you to view planting maps, baby tree photos, forest info, and sign up for future updates—making this one of the most unique gifts for pet loss available.
Will I receive growth updates for the pet memorial trees?
Yes! After ordering a gift for loss of a pet, you’ll automatically receive occasional email updates. We revisit the forest planting locations about every 5–10 years to take new photos of the growing trees. You’re free to unsubscribe at any time if you prefer not to receive these updates.
Can pet memorial trees be visited in person?
Yes! This loss of pet gift includes access to forest location information and directions for those who want to visit the area. Many families find great peace in seeing where their tribute tree was planted. Please note that because we plant many trees at a time to restore large areas of forest, we can't provide specific coordinates for individual trees.
If I give a tree as a loss of pet gift, when will it be planted?
We plan ahead by estimating the number of tribute trees we’ll need to plant for the calendar year, then the Forest Service plants those trees in early summer when survival rates are highest. We move on to a new location the next year once the current trees have all been dedicated. This process ensures that gift recipients—even those receiving their gifts late in the year—don’t face long waits for tree details. Every tree gifted through Trees for a Change is connected to a real baby tree planted in a specific forest.
